Get your VTC driver’s licence in Madrid
This is not just about passing an exam. We take you step by step through the whole procedure: the requirements, registering, the exam and — the part most people forget — applying for the licence itself.
What almost nobody tells you
Passing the exam does not give you the licence. They are two separate procedures, and the second one has to be applied for on its own. Some people pass and are still unable to work, simply because they did not know about that step.
And the administration will not call you. The exam summons arrives only in your Cuenta Virtual at the Comunidad de Madrid, and it is up to you to go and check.

Careful: you have to reach the minimum in every module. Failing just one means Fail, even if the other three are very good.
Your Spanish is not strong?
The exam is in Spanish and cannot be translated: Module I is measuring exactly that. But the app is in your language: the procedure, the explanations and the help. The question shows in Spanish — as it will in the exam — and you can bring up the translation with one tap, so you understand it without giving up on the Spanish you are going to be asked for.

Does passing the exam give me the VTC driver’s licence?
No. Passing only lets you APPLY for the licence, which is a separate, later procedure. Many people pass and end up unable to work simply because nobody told them.
What is the Madrid VTC exam like?
60 multiple-choice questions with four options, in 60 minutes, split into four modules. You have to reach the minimum in EVERY module: failing just one means Fail.
Can I be exempt from the exam?
Yes, if you can prove your experience with your vida laboral (Spanish employment history record): having worked as a VTC driver between 12/01/2023 and 12/01/2024 without a break, or 2 years between 12/01/2020 and 12/01/2024.
How do I find out I have been called to the exam?
Only through the Cuenta Virtual of the Comunidad de Madrid. Every communication is electronic: nobody calls you and no letter comes. It is up to you to go and check.
